The Creative Curriculum

HomeOur approach • The Creative Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum ©

We offer The Creative Curriculum© to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and Pre-K children. It allows us to provide children with the necessary tools and skills they need to develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills for later success in school and life.

Based on 75 years of childhood learning studies, and a deep knowledge of child development theory, The Creative Curriculum© focuses on teaching what is most essential for healthy growth and development, and encourages enthusiastic learners. The curriculum is built on a philosophy that believes that the best way to help children succeed is to teach them to be creative and confident thinkers by offering opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery.

Our early years teachers deliver a developmentally appropriate, content-rich practice and create daily routines and meaningful experiences that respond to each child’s strengths, interests, and needs. This style of teaching practice allows us to ensure that all children at Teddy Bear Nurseries feel safe, valued, and respected as they move through the beginning stages of their learning journey.

We work closely with Liwa Education and the curriculum specialist who supports and guides all of our teaching staff to ensure that Teddy Bear Nurseries children are receiving the best early years education.

Monitoring progress

Guided by The Creative Curriculum© we set goals and objectives for each child’s development and learning. Through a systematic and meaningful assessment structure, our teachers and caregivers monitor progress closely to discover what is unique and special about each child at the nursery. This also helps our teachers plan individualized learning experiences that allow each child to flourish.

Learning journeys

Each child at Teddy Bear Nurseries has a personalized learning journey folder. The folder captures the significant steps and progress they have made throughout their time with us and is a celebration of their learning, development, and accomplishments.

Progress reports

Twice a year, each child’s development and learning is assessed against goals and objectives set out by The Creative Curriculum©. Their progress is recorded and monitored by our teachers before sharing at parent-teacher meetings. This helps us celebrate each child’s progress and achievements and also allows us to form the next steps in their learning, as well as being able to identify any further learning support they might need.

Individualized learning

Individualization is central to our approach to learning as we understand that each child has different needs as they advance to different levels of developmental progression. We have combined our innovative Creative Curriculum with the whole-child approach to learning so that every child has a personalized learning journey that is responsive to their individual strengths, interests, and needs.

Our teachers are fully equipped with the knowledge and experience to identify and support each child individually, as well as providing guidance to families who require further support in enhancing their child’s learning experience.

We support individualized learning through:
  • Continuous planning, progress monitoring, and assessment of the curriculum.
  • Curriculum and planning flexibility.
  • One-to-one learning opportunities for each child.
  • Daily choice-time to allow children to take charge of their own learning.
  • Progress monitoring of all children to identify additional support needs.
  • Multiple interest areas within the learning environment to allow choice and differentiation.
  • Meeting the needs of all children.
  • Partnership with parents.
  • Parent feedback and reinforcement.
  • Enhanced learning standards for all children.

Arabic language program

To help prepare children for school in the UAE, the Teddy Bear Nursery Arabic teacher delivers an engaging Arabic language program to our Teddy 3 and Teddy 4 classes. Our interactive program also works alongside the nursery curriculum and when appropriate, gradually introduces our younger Teddys to the Arabic language in a fun and engaging way. Classroom visits to our younger Teddys gently introduces them to the Arabic language through Arabic nursery rhymes and games.

Heritage Village

To support the teaching of our Arabic language program we have created a Heritage Room which allows children to learn Arabic and Islamic Studies within a unique cultural setting. Older children visit the Heritage Room for regular Arabic lessons where they also learn about the culture and traditions of Islam through celebrations such as UAE National Day.
